New York Street Photography – Fuji X100T

After a long break from photography, I finally had a chance to shoot in the streets of New York City during my short holiday armed with my Fuji X100T, a camera designed for street photography.  JPEG images are sharp and quite amazing straight from the camera.  Below are some images I have captured.

THANKSGIVING PARADE

I saw this pretty face among the crowd watching the Thanksgiving Parade in New York City.  Most settings were in Auto ISO 3200, shutter speed of 250 and f-stop of 8 or 5.6.

Found the words ‘vegetarian’ in one of the buildings, hence used this as the title for this image.

“Vegetarian”

“Young Stare”

‘Braving The Cold”

I initially thought his woman was above 6 feet tall.  Found out she was standing on a small stool to get a better view of the giant balloons during the Thanksgiving parade.

“Big Smile”

It’s a bird, it’s a plane. No she was looking in awe at the giant Spiderman balloon during the Thanksgiving parade. Looked like a scene in a movie.

“Standing Still”

I spotted this nice contrast of light vs. dark skinned hands holding on to a stainless steel bar aboard the subway train in New York and quickly took this photo.

‘Holding Tight”

One of my favorites.  I liked the way this man stared at me while I composed this shot.

Scrap Pork

Scrap the pork barrel is the outcry of thousands of Filipinos who gathered at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila on Aug. 26, National Heroes’ Day.  It is believed that the pork barrel is the main source of corruption of elected government officials in the country.   People from all walks of life joined the peaceful rally.  The message was loud and clear – scrap the pork barrel and prosecute the guilty.  The question is will the government listen to the people?

Train Ride

“It’s not that we have to quit this life one day, but it’s how many things we have to quit all at once: music, laughter, the physics of falling leaves, automobiles, holding hands, the scent of rain, the concept of subway trains… if only one could leave this life slowly!”

– Roman Payne

” The destination is made more meaningful by and through the journey.  Don’t give up!”

– Evinda Lepins

And this man spells it out clearly on his shirt – “Never Give Up.”

“Time goes faster the more hollow it is.  Lives with no meaning go straight past you, like trains that don’t stop at your station.”

– Carlos Ruiz Zafon

” I made up my mind not to care so much about the destination, and simply enjoy the journey.”

– David Archuleta

“The path to our destination is not always a straight one.  We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back.  Maybe it doesn’t matter which road we embark on.  Maybe what matters is that we embark.”

– Barbara Hall
