Rome – The Vatican Museums

The Vatican Museums is one of the largest museums in the world with an immense collection of renowned classical sculptures and masterpieces of Renaissance art collected by the Roman Catholic Church over the centuries.  The museums was founded by Pope Julius II in the early 16th century.  Most popular attractions are the ceilings paintings by Michelangelo at the Sistine Chapel, Stanza della Segnatura decorated by Raphael and the spiral staircase designed by Giuseppe Momo.
